Video Verite: telling a marketing story

I’ve been working on a few different videos for sponsors of the cycling team lately.  It has been an interesting project because I want to tell an honest story but try to keep it interesting without turning it into a straight-up advertisement.  We tried to work from the premise of, ‘UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Chooses …’ whatever product, not that they are using the product because of a financial agreement.  It is quite true too, getting the riders and staff to talk honestly on how they feel about the products the team uses was easy as could be, everyone was very enthusiastic and ready to talk.

It has been good to have some small projects that can go from concept, to shoot, to final product quickly and easily.  Each video goes through approval with the agency, and then approval through the end-client (the sponsor) and once those two approvals come back they go live.  We use these throughout the season to remind folks why the team uses the equipment they do, and it provides a bit more in-depth look at the individual components that make up a cycling team’s bevy of tools to get the job done.
